Baby Craniosacral Therapy Killarney Kerry

Baby Craniosacral Therapy Killarney, Kerry

Gentle treatment to relieve tension and soothe discomfort.

The Ardagh Clinic, Killarney

Birth, regardless of the shape that it takes, is a difficult experience for babies. The large compressive forces of birth can impact their physical body structurally, but it can also leave an imprint on their nervous system.

In paediatric cranial therapy, also known as craniosacral therapy, we begin with an in-depth assessment, starting with you, their caregiver, and your main concerns. We then move on to assessing baby before beginning the treatment.

What paediatric craniosacral therapy commonly treats:

The following is a list of what we commonly see in our baby craniosacral therapy Killarney clinic:

  • Birth trauma and birth strain (vacuum, forceps, or C-section)
  • Latch, feeding, and tongue-tie tension
  • Colic, reflux, and digestive discomfort
  • Constipation or Diarrhea
  • Torticollis and neck preference / head turning difficulties
  • Plagiocephaly (flat head syndrome)
  • Unsettledness, frequent crying, and sleep difficulties
  • Teething
  • Recurrent ear infections / Glue ear
  • Support for neurodivergency

Another option is to book an 80-minute mother and baby cranial therapy session. In this session, we allot more time so that once baby is treated we turn the focus to you, for postpartum care.

For mothers, this treatment is designed to care for you by:

  • Calming a stressed, overtired nervous system
  • Relieving tension in the neck, back, and shoulders
  • Soothing birth shock and emotional overwhelm
  • Softening pelvic and abdominal tension
  • Relaxation support
  • Supporting mother-baby bonding and co-regulation

This style of treatment helps to replenish the body post-partum and resource the nervous system to meet the demands of parenting a young child. Baby’s treatment has more potent outcomes as they anchor their immature stress response and emotions to mother’s nervous system.

FAQs for Baby Craniosacral Therapy Killarney

What is baby Craniosacral Therapy (CST)?

Baby Craniosacral Therapy is a gentle, light-touch therapy that supports your baby’s health and nervous system. We focus on gentle, non-invasive touch to release physical tension or strain held in the body from their time in utero and birth.

Yes, absolutely. Baby craniosacral therapy Killarney is safe for infants, including newborns.

Just to keep in mind, I do not recommend bringing your baby for a session the 2 days leading up to a vaccination appointment. This is simply because the effects of the vaccine often wipe out the release work done with baby. Any time after a vaccination is suitable.

Your baby remains fully clothed and comfortable throughout. I do not leave a baby cry.

They do not need to remain still, I can carry out the treatment while baby is in your arms if that is where they are most settled.

We take as many breaks as baby needs during the treatment. Baby may also need to feed or nurse during the treatment and we follow their lead in that.

Crying is the primary outlet that a baby has for expression, especially when releasing built-up tension.

That being said, the priority in this treatment is baby’s comfort, so I will take a pause if baby’s crying is signalling that’s what it needs in that moment.

It is important that your baby feels unhurried in their release process, and since their body is leading the tension unwinding, we always go at their pace.
